Asbestos awarness

Course Contents:

  • Introduction - what is asbestos? Where is asbestos found? Why was asbestos used? Types of asbestos and the ill-health effects.

  • The Legal Framework - the Control of Asbestos 

  • Risk Assessment - identifying hazards, deciding who may be harmed, evaluating risks, recording findings and reviewing and updating the risk assessment.

  • Asbestos Containing Materials - friability, controlling exposure, asbestos related diseases, smoking, Workplace Exposure Limit, respiratory protective equipment and health surveillance.

Basic Fire Safety

Course Content:

  • Introduction to Risk Assessment What is a risk assessment? 

  • Who should carry out a risk assessment?

  • Common causes of workplace injuries.

  • Legal Responsibilities –

  • Identifying the Risks – the steps of a risk assessment, identify the hazards, decide who might be harmed and how, evaluate the risks, the likelihood of risk, the severity of harm and the degree of risk.

  • Reducing the Likelihood of Harm – decide on precautions, the hierarchy of control measures, engineering controls, administrative controls, personal protective equipment and further help.

  • Recording and Reviewing the Results – record your findings and implement them, download a risk assessment template and review and update.

Course Contents:

This course explains to the participants about the hazards of working in confined spaces.  It is recommended  for workers that  work in confined spaces, with a medium risk factor.    This course serves a foundation for the confined space rescue emergency response team training course.
